Aussie orchid

My King Orchid or Dendrobium speciosum has flowered brilliantly this year. It's also a bit early, it's not even spring. But it's been warm and dry. I placed this orchid in full sun for the winter so that helped. This orchid is going to outgrow it's stump soon and I think there are white ants in there...I'll have to get another tree stump to put it in. These orchids are often found in Brisbane gardens. They are endemic to the east coast forests of Australia and it's diffficult to kill them....

Dendrochilum cobbianum

A beautiful orchid from the Phillipines! And this close up shows the actual orchid itself - the flower is only about 6mm across!...

I love the pink and there were lots of flowers this year. The leaves were faded, dry and decimated by grasshoppers in this drought. The flowers fade slowly in the full sun until they will eventually look completely washed out and fall - but not until about 6 weeks time.
